The 2010 Campaign.

In 2008, voters of the 46th District elected Judge Bill Richards to a two-year term as Judge of the 46th District Court. Now, Judge Richards is up for election again, this time to a full six-year term.

The 2010 campaign is well underway.  The Friends of Judge Bill Richards held our first fundraiser on March 25 at Pi Banquet Hall in Southfield to kick things off.  It was a great success, with hundreds of supporters and contributors in attendance.  With more than 150 people contributing to the campaign by mid-July, the Bill Richards re-election campaign is one of the largest judicial campaigns in Michigan.

Just as in 2008, Bill is off to a great start in endorsements as well. There have been two major labor endorsements so far—and both have gone to Bill. Both the Michigan Building and Construction Trades Council and AFL-CIO have endorsed him. The Oakland County Democratic Party has again endorsed Bill as well, after a unanimous recommendation by a screening of active Democrats.

Among individuals, State Senator Gilda Jacobs and State Representative Vince Gregory lead the way, with more endorsements coming in from public officials every week, representing all the communities that the 46th District Court serves: Southfield, Lathrup Village, Beverly Hills, Bingham Farms, and Franklin.
